TransAsia GE222 plane crash lands in Taiwan killed at least 40

A passenger plane has crashed after a failed emergency landing in Taiwan, killing more than 40 people, local officials say.

The domestic flight crashed near Magong airport on the outlying Penghu island, reports said.

A plane attempting to land in stormy weather crashed on a small Taiwanese island late Wednesday, killing 48 people and wrecking houses and cars on the ground.

The plane caught fire “at the end of the runway” and eleven people sustained injuries, Taiwan's Central News Agency (CNA) reports.
